ITINERARY

Day 1

Arrival (Guwahati – Shillong)

Welcome on arrival at Guwahati Airport / Station and transfer to Shillong (130 KMS / 3 hrs drive). Enroute visit Umiam Lake – created by damming the Umiam River in the early 1960s.

Check in and overnight stay at the hotel in Shillong.

Day 2

Cherapunjee Excursion

Morning enjoy breakfast and then set out on an excursion trip to Cherapunjee (60 Kms / 2hrs one way). It is the traditional capital of the Nongkhlaw hima (Khasi tribal chieftainship) known as Sohra or Churra. Visit Dwan Syiem view point, Noh Kalikai falls, Mawsmai caves, Seven Sister falls, Eco Park etc. Later drive back to Shillong.

Day 3

Shillong to Kaziranga

Morning after breakfast transfer to Kaziranga (325Kms / 07hrs). Kaziranga was declared a National Park in 1974 and UNESCO declared Kaziranga a World Heritage Site in 1985. The park hosts two thirds of the world population of Rhinos. Overnight at Kaziranga.

Day 4

Jungle Safari at Kaziranga

Morning enjoy Jeep Safari inside the National Park. Apart from the Rhino, other species found are hog deer, swamp deer, wild buffalo, elephants and if you are lucky, the tiger. It is virtually a paradise for bird watchers, with a variety of migratory and resident birds. It is also home to pelicans, storks and darters as there are a number of water bodies inside the Park.
After breakfast at hotel you can visit tea plantations, rubber plantations. Afternoon enjoy Jeep safari in the Central Range. Kaziranga is a vast expanse of tall elephant grass, marshland, and dense tropical moist broadleaf forests, crisscrossed by four major rivers, including the Brahmaputra, and the park includes numerous small bodies of water.

Overnight at Kaziranga.

Day 5

Kaziranga to Guwahati

Morning enjoy your breakfast and check out for transfer to Guwahati. Situated on the South Bank of river Brahmaputra this is the largest city of Assam, a major riverine port city and one of the fastest growing cities in India. Many ancient Hindu temples are in the city, giving it the name “City of Temples” the most important being Kamakhya Temple. Evening at leisure.

Guwahati Local sightseeing

Morning starts the Full day sightseeing in and around this capital city of Assam , covering Kamakhya Temple – Situated on top of the Nilachal Hill, Maa Kamakhya Temple is the most sacred among the tantrik shrines of Shakti worship in the world; Balaji Temple, State Museum, Navagraha Temple – dedicated to the nine planets located on the top of Chitrasal Hill, Umananda Temple on Bhasmachal – a Shiva temple located at the Peacock Island – smallest inhabited riverine island in the world , Sankardeva Kalakshetra – is a cultural institution in the Panjabari area, named after the medieval poet-playwright and reformer Srimanta Sankardev. Evening experience the river cruise Jahajghat/ Mackhowa to Jahajghat/ Mackhowa river Brahmaputra (On Direct Payment).
